Profiling and Quantitation of Metabolomic “Signatures” for Breast Cancer Cell Progression
نویسندگان
چکیده
IN T RODUC T ION Breast cancer is one of the top five cancers that affect human lives seriously. Therefore, it is of great importance to discover the best ways to study this disease. Metabolic reprogramming is required both during the initial breast cancer transformation process (primary tumor) and during the acquisition of metastatic potential (metastases), shown in Figure 1. The reprogramming process includes altered flux through glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP), resulting in increased fatty acid synthesis needed for proliferation.

The significance of gene profiling in diagnosis the cause of drug resistance in cancer
Chemoresistance is one of the main obstacles to the success of cancer treatment and one of the most important causes of death in patients. In the last decade, progress in high-throughput technologies, including microarray, sequencing, and bioinformatics has greatly resulted in cancer gene profiling and identification of biomarkers for cancer prognosis and prediction. This has greatly improved t...
متن کاملMetabolomic changes accompanying transformation and acquisition of metastatic potential in a syngeneic mouse mammary tumor model.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer type for women in the western world. Despite decades of research, the molecular processes associated with breast cancer progression are still inadequately defined. Here, we focus on the systematic alteration of metabolism by using the state of the art metabolomic profiling techniques to investigate the changes of 157 metabolites during the progression of ...
متن کاملQuantitation of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Interleukin-6 in Different Stages of Breast Cancer
Background: Determination of the impact of angiogenesis on tumor development and progression is essential. This study aimed to determine the serum levels of Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6) in breast carcinoma, and to correlate them with tumor size, lymph node involvement, and cancer stage. Methods: Under aseptic precautions 5 ml of venous blood was collecte...
متن کامل1H NMR studies distinguish the water soluble metabolomic profiles of untransformed and RAS-transformed cells
Metabolomic profiling is an increasingly important method for identifying potential biomarkers in cancer cells with a view towards improved diagnosis and treatment. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) provides a potentially noninvasive means to accurately characterize differences in the metabolomic profiles of cells. In this work, we use (1)H NMR to measure the metabolomic profiles of water solubl...
متن کاملIL-17 and IL-4 Producing CD8+ T Cells in Tumor Draining Lymph Nodes of Breast Cancer Patients: Positive Association with Tumor Progression
Background: CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes have been recently divided based on their cytokine expression profile. Objective: To evaluate the percentages of CD8+ lymphocytes and their effector subsets including Tc1, Tc2 and Tc17 in the tumor draining lymph nodes (TDLNs) of patients with breast cancer. Methods: Single cell suspensions were obtained from TDLNs of 42 patients with breast cancer. Stai...
